Students at Kanisius Kobong Elementary School have been introduced to a financial literacy initiative through the Inveskids program. In this activity, students are encouraged to view everyday waste materials such as cardboard, plastic bottles, and other recyclables as valuable resources rather than trash. This approach helps students understand basic income generation while also fostering environmental responsibility.
Through this practice, students experience firsthand how small and consistent efforts can lead to meaningful financial outcomes. The money earned from selling collected recyclable materials is deposited into each student’s savings account. This process helps them realize that saving does not always depend on additional allowance or gifts from parents, but can also come from their own initiative.
Beyond financial skills, the program also promotes environmental awareness and entrepreneurial thinking. By transforming waste into savings, Inveskids helps students develop resourcefulness, responsibility, and a stronger sense of financial independence.
